Interpreter and translator database - Apply for admission for temporary work (interpreters, translators from other EU/EEA countries)
As an interpreter based in another EU/EEA country, you can work in Baden-Württemberg on a temporary and occasional basis. This also applies to document translators. You can be entered in the "Register of Interpreters and Translators" without being sworn in.
If you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland or have your professional establishment or place of residence in one of these countries, you can also be sworn in in Baden-Württemberg. You can find further information on this in the procedure descriptions

Prerequisite
You must be legally established in an EU/EEA member state to work as an interpreter or translator.
Interpreters are court interpreters and sign language interpreters.
Procedure
You must apply for inclusion in the "Register of Interpreters and Translators" at the competent office.
You can submit the application online or in writing.
The competent office will examine your application and, if the decision is favourable, will enter you in the register of the Regional Court of Stuttgart. A general swearing-in is not required. If the competent office rejects your application, you will receive a notice of rejection.
Note: Once you have been included in the register, the competent office will enter your data in the nationwide interpreter and translator database (DÜD). It will use the professional title customary in your country of origin. You can object to the publication in whole or in part.
You may only provide interpreting or translation services under the professional title customary in your country of origin.

If you do not agree to the publication of all or part of your data, you can submit a corresponding declaration.

Registration of a temporary interpreter or document translator: EUR 25.00
Processing time
As soon as you have submitted all the documents, your application will be processed within 3 months.
