Through discussions and social learning in the group, children and young people should learn to overcome difficulties, build self-confidence and respect other opinions.
Social group work is an outpatient youth welfare programme and a specific form of so-called educational support. The group meetings usually take place several times a week and last one to two hours. Social group work is particularly suitable for older children and young people.

Note: The city of Constance fulfils the tasks of the local youth welfare office itself. The city of Villingen-Schwenningen handed over the municipal youth welfare office to the Schwarzwald-Baar district on 1 July 2023.

Prerequisite
You assume that your child or young person has developmental difficulties and/or behavioural problems.
Procedure
Contact the responsible centre with your problems.
They will assess your case and decide whether social group work is a suitable measure for your child or young person. The youth welfare office will help you with the application and also advise you on other options for help.
If help is granted, all parties involved will draw up a help plan together. This sets out the process, objectives and duration of the help.
The youth welfare office will review the progress of the help in regular meetings.
