If you, as the person responsible for radiation protection, appoint a person as a radiation protection officer, you must inform the competent authority of this as soon as possible.
In the appointment, you must also specify the tasks and authorisations of the radiation protection officer as well as the internal decision-making area.
You must also inform the competent authority as soon as possible if
- the tasks or authorisations of the radiation protection officer change, or
- the radiation protection officer leaves or you dismiss this person and appoint another person as radiation protection officer.

Prerequisite
The person performing the duties of the radiation protection officer must
- there must be no concerns about reliability and
- must have the necessary expertise in radiation protection.

As soon as possible after the appointment, change of duties or authorisations, dismissal or resignation of a radiation protection officer
Required documents
- Copy of the certificate of competence pursuant to Section 74 (1) of the Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG) in conjunction with Section 47 (1) and Section 48 (1) of the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) including proof of the last update
- Copy of the letter of appointment or the letter of dismissal or resignation of the radiation protection officer
- Copy of the valid licence to practise medicine in the case of a person licensed to practise medicine
- current certificate of good conduct for submission to authorities in accordance with Section 30 (5) of the Federal Central Criminal Register Act (document type OB) in the event of appointment and change of duties or powers of a radiation protection officer
